This book contains 200 Sunday Times crossword puzzles from the Shortz era, and you know how witty the definitions can be! Like all Sunday Times puzzles, they are of moderate difficulty, not super-hard like the Saturday ones. The book is well-made, with good quality paper - much better than the slick glossy Times Sunday magazine paper that doesn't take pencil or ink marks very well - and for those like me who tear the pages out and then use a clipboard, they tear out easily with no ragged edges. As for the puzzles, well - is there anyone, anywhere who makes better big Sunday-style puzzles? I've done puzzles from papers all over the USA and the Times are easily the most fun to work.Heartily recommended to puzzle fanatics and casual solvers alike.Scott Morrison.

Cardsharky, Can no longer make in APP purchasesNow when I try to do a purchase there is no confirm button on the bottom half of the screen.
On the top half on the right side it says double click to confirm. This banner is slightly moving but the item I am supposed to double click never appears on the screen. I have an iPhone X and have recently purchased Midi puzzles but now I can no longer purchase. I also looked at a annual subscription but the same screen issues.Good News.
I ended up googling my question and found the answer. That double click message: on the X phone on the upper right side there is a button one can push. So when it said to double click that’s the button they want you to push. So I ended up purchasing an annual subscription. Thought I’d have access to all the $2 - $4 Midi puzzles but that’s not the case. Of course you get access to the big Daily puzzle.
But for the Midi’s you have to pay extra as if you had no subscription. BUT I do have access to the Midi archives and thus I have access to 28-31 puzzles for every month of archive. You got a 5 star rating from me on my initial review when I was having technical problems. So no need to update that. Developer Response,Hey cardsharky - please contact us via the Feedback button in the app so we can try to recreate your experience.
Also be sure to update to the latest version of the app which supports iPhone X. Thanks for the feedback! Wsomar, Wonderful app, but no ink support and frequent sync issuesThis is a great app that I have loaded on several platforms, so it’s hard not to compare amongst the different versions.
I rate it 5 stars on other platforms. It’s very unfortunate that the app on iOS does not support inking. For those not familiar, this means the ability to use the Apple Pencil to hand-write the letters directly into the box. This has been supported for years in the app on other platforms. Maybe now that Apple has finally embraced pen/pencil input we will get it in the near future.Being able to directly scribble a letter directly into a box makes the application such much more relaxing and intuitive.
When I have the choice, I will always grab one of my “other” devices to complete a crossword because of this reason.Another quirk in the app is the synchronizing of completed puzzles across devices. Complete a puzzle on Device 1 and it will show up as not complete on Device 2. It’s not until you attempt to open it on Device 2 that the application figures out that: Oh! You.did. complete this.Obviously, if you only have one device and do not use stylus input then these shortcomings do not affect you. Drmin73, NY Times online crossword puzzle appFor $2 or $3, you get access to the archive of the daily puzzle in addition to all the Monday through Sunday puzzles as they come out. A gold star is availablefor each new puzzle that you complete on the day of its issue.
It’s an addictive feature that has kept me completing the puzzles each day now for the past two months and counting. Other collections of themed puzzles are available for nominal fees. The included archive alone looks to be enough to keep me occupied for several years to come, at least.
These are fun puzzles to experiment with, since the technology allows for rapid, easy letter replacement. I frequently go with my gut on difficult and obscure answers, sometimes finding them surprisingly correct, sometimes transforming entire puzzle quadrants from one set of answers to a largely different set. The letter replacement feature makes this app a clear favorite over the old pen and paper technique. I use the app each day and highly recommend it.
